What is the expected turnaround?
The assessor normally returns the report within two weeks.
Where are the prices?
Once you fill in the contact form, and state what service you need, a quote and contract will be sent back for your consideration.
Can you come to our home?
Yes, the assessor work remotely and if it is within one hour from Cheltenham town centre, that’s fine.
Why do you ask so much information because I don’t think the client will understand this level of detail?
The assessor always presumes the person has capacity for the decision and so the more information provided, the better support they get on the day. The assessor takes every step possible to assist their understanding.
My loved on is quite anxious, how do you support them?
If you let the assessor know ahead of time and tell us more about them, the assessor can shape the assessment best. For example, it is normal for the client becomes anxious upon arrival. The assessor may spend time in light conversation. A support person (that the client knows) may also be the best option to help them feel calmer.
What if I can’t find a support person separate from the situation?
If you are stuck, think about people slightly outside their closest circle of contacts, for example a trusted neighbour, a relative outside of the circumstances, or a carer. Keep in mind the support person will hear the content of the assessment, but they may step out of the room if you tell the assessor about any information they must not hear.
How do we get the final signed report?
The final report is provided electronically after you have approved of the draft. It will be signed electronically however if you require a copy with a ‘wet signature’ you will need to let the assessor know ahead of time.
What if we don’t agree with your decision?
You are welcome to ask more questions about the report and express your view, however the final decision sits with the assessor.
What I think the person does not have capacity to make an LPA?
I would recommend that an assessment takes place to assess if they have capacity to choose an attorney under an LPA. However, if they cannot I would complete a second assessment to assess their capacity to manage their finances. Then aCOP 3 (form) can be completed so that you can apply for a deputy.
What if we don’t agree with your decision?
You are welcome to ask more questions about the report and express your view. The assessments are evidence based and therefore if you have a disagreement in matters of fact, please make them known so I can consider them. However, the report is based on professional judgement and in most cases only additional information will be considered in reviewing the outcome.
Can I just email rather than through the website?
You are welcome to email at cremorneconsult@gmail.com
